Richmond College students at Computer Tournament in New Delhi Print option in slimbox / lytebox? (info)

A ten-member team of students and teachers from the Richmond College, Galle accompanied by the Principal of Richmond as well visited New Delhi from 21-30 July 2012 to participate at the Gateway Computer Tournament 2012 organized by the Montfort Senior Secondary School, Ashok Vihar, Delhi. The India-Sri Lanka Foundation supported and facilitated this visit.  

The India-Sri Lanka Foundation set up and funded by the Governments of Sri Lanka and India aims at developing and promoting greater understanding between the peoples of the two countries. This is the first time the Foundation has supported a school team from the Southern province of Sri Lanka to visit India.

This year’s Gateway Computer Tournament, an annual event, received as many as 30 applications from schools in Delhi. After preliminary elimination round 15 school teams were selected to take part in the tournament. Two students from the Richmond College received a special achievement award in the Web Designing competition.

The Richmond students besides taking part in the computer tournament attended Science, Chemistry and English classes at Montfort School and made presentations about Sri Lanka for the benefit of Montfort School students.

The India-Sri Lanka Foundation intends to involve schools from other regions of India and Sri Lanka, in its future exchange programmes, for the benefit of the student community of both countries.
